The Vision Behind the Brand Name

Filamentta (Filamentta Slit) is an enchanting name, drawn from the word that signifies "a fine thread" or "fiber," immediately evoking the delicacy and dedication of handcrafting.
The gentle resonance of this name perfectly aligns with its function, as it suggests its role as a creative jig for products that shape fine, delicate objects. We chose it because its elegant cadence seamlessly blends into the graceful world of needlework and creative crafting, enriching the joy and satisfaction of bringing beautiful pieces to life.

7 Little Joys: When Cute Meets Clever in the Filamental Slit Jig

1. Millimeter Precision Cutter

The Filamentta Slit is, true to its name (meaning "fine thread"), an unparalleled, high-precision cutting jig designed to create delicate strands.
It stands far apart from typical PP band cutters on the market. While conventional tools rely on rough divisions like "divide into X equal parts," the true genius of the Filamentta Slit lies in its exceptional millimeter precision. This product enables you to cut ultra-fine PP bands down to the millimeter, providing the limitless customization essential for intricate needlework, crafting, and precise design projects. It empowers your creativity with unmatched precision and beauty.

2. The 1mm Spacer Key

The key to the Filamentta Slit's incredible precision cutting lies in its built-in spacers.
The product comes with a total of 30 spacers (approx. 1mm thick)—14 white, 14 silver, and 2 black—allowing you the flexibility to precisely cut materials up to 30mm wide. You might notice the thickness is listed as approx. 1mm, not strictly 1mm. This is a crucial detail that stems from our store's choice to push the limits of consumer 3D printing.
Due to the nature of 3D printing technology, the spacer thickness isn't perfectly uniform. However, by embracing this method instead of relying on expensive external precision manufacturing, we successfully prevented a surge in production costs. This choice is our store's firm commitment to making this innovative cutting jig accessible and affordable for every crafter.

3. Ultra-Light 120g Cutter

The Filamentta Slit adapts perfectly to your preferred workspace.
You have the flexibility to either hold the unit freehand for dynamic cutting or firmly secure it to a table for maximum stability—the choice is yours. This high degree of freedom, particularly the ability to cut while holding the tool, was achieved by meticulously crafting every component—the main body, bolts, and nuts—entirely from ABS resin.
Weighing in at a mere 120 grams, this astonishingly lightweight design ensures your hands won't tire during long creative sessions, allowing you to enjoy precise cutting anytime, anywhere.

4. Craft with confidence

Keep your fingertips safe and sound with the Safety Bracket. It’s your trusty guard for handling tapes and materials, so you can focus purely on creating. It helps prevent sudden snags or snapping when you are trimming or cutting, as it gently but firmly presses down on the material from above, allowing you to pull it out smoothly. We offer two types to match your crafting style: a Long Type which lets you check the material width and cutting edge every time, and a Short Type for quickly starting your work. Achieve a safer and more comfortable crafting experience with the Safety Bracket!

5. Optimal Blade Count

Testing confirms five razor blades is the limit for smooth one-handed cutting by men.
Using more blades significantly increases friction, requiring excessive force. For this reason, we highly recommend that female users, who may require less exertion, opt for one-handed operation with a manageable two to three razor blades.
Based on these findings, we include five razor blades as the standard set of accessories. This is the best balance determined by our store to ensure that all users can achieve the optimal blend of sharpness and operational control.

6. Key to Precision Cutting

The Blank Piece is factory-set in the unit to ensure maximum cutting precision.
The primary design purpose of this component is to secure stability when no razor blades are being used. If you attempt to fix unused spacers without the Blank Piece, a slight gap is created, compromising the spacer's function. This tiny gap is precisely what causes uneven cutting lines or incomplete cuts on ultra-fine PP bands.
To solve this, we engineered the Blank Piece to be used with double-sided tape, effectively filling the gap and stabilizing the structure. This meticulous design drastically improves fixation stability, delivering sharp cuts and an exceptionally straight finish.

7. A Canvas of Limitless Potential

Our store offers you the Filamentta Slit—a canvas brimming with potential.
We have intentionally equipped this jig with only the most refined, minimalist functions. This is because we believe its true capabilities and unique applications should be discovered by none other than your own creativity.
The most excellent tools are always those that evolve through the user's ideas and experimentation, ultimately generating one-of-a-kind value.
Now, take this tool, push the boundaries of the Filamentta Slit, and let your ideas amaze the world!

Pre-Purchase Q&A

Q. What is the safety measure for razor blades when using the Jig? (As of November 26, 2025)

For customers who are planning to enjoy their main projects using a "freehand style," we have a little but very important notice!

During our cutting video shoot just before the sale, Our Store also discovered a very important safety consideration to share with you.

Even when fixing the spacer and the included double-edged razor blade with double-sided tape, if the setup isn't perfectly complete, the razor blade might stick out slightly from the bottom surface. We would hate for you to accidentally hurt your fingers! 😢

But don't worry, we have a wonderful solution to help you use it with more peace of mind!

The key is to use a single-edged razor blade that you prepare yourself, instead of the included double-edged one. Even if the blade happens to protrude from the bottom, since it's a single-edged razor, the unsharpened side helps prevent accidental injuries. This makes your work super safe.

If you're planning to use the freehand method often, please prepare a single-edged razor blade in advance for a safe and enjoyable crafting time! We are truly cheering for your wonderful creations! ✨

Q. Why This Jig, Why Now?

A. This jig was born to fulfill your wish to "create more beautifully and more easily."

In detailed craftwork, a tiny misalignment can change the whole look, right?

Unlike the rough segmentation methods used by other companies, this jig enables you to perform precise cutting without relying on "feel" or "technique." By simply pre-setting the component, anyone can perform accurate, millimeter-level cutting, which, in turn, allows you to shorten your previous working time severalfold.

Use it to make your hobby time more enjoyable and significantly enhance the quality of your finished pieces.

Q. Why is this jig priced higher than others?

A. The price is a testament to the special quality required to support your "commitment to perfection."

To realize a unique design tailored for your delicate work—a design absent in mass-market tools—our store utilizes high-performance 3D printers, maximizing their technological capabilities to achieve high precision and durability.

We are committed to providing reliable quality that allows you to cherish your hobby tools for years.

We hope you see this price as a reflection of our store's passion, derived from extensive prototyping, and the value of saving your handwork so you can focus on creating.

Q. Where Does This Jig Come From?

A. This jig is born directly from the 3D printer we have on hand, infused with our store's passion.

We handle the entire process in-house, from planning and design to manufacturing. This approach means we believe we can quickly bring users' voices and ideas, like "If only this part were slightly different...", into physical form in the future.

Each piece is produced carefully and with care so that this jig performs its best in your hands. While this may mean delivery takes a little longer, our meticulous support system, which is absent in mass-produced items, is a significant strength of our store.

Q. What is the maximum width the "Filamenta Slit" jig can handle?

A. The maximum width of material that the "Filamenta Slit" jig can accommodate is up to 30 millimeters.

You can use it with almost all commercially available PP band materials, so please don't worry!

Regarding pulp paper-based bands or other specialized materials, we unfortunately cannot give you a definitive answer as we do not stock them. However, based on the jig's structure, it should be possible to use them.

Q. What is the minimum material width the "Filamenta Slit" jig can handle?

A. Considering the smallest commercially available material width, the "Filamenta Slit" jig can reliably accommodate materials down to 6 millimeters.

However, by leveraging the design features of the "Filamenta Slit" jig, we believe it might be possible to split 4-millimeter-wide material into "2mm and 2mm" or "3mm and 1mm" sections. That sounds like an interesting way to use it!

Q. Can I cut more material at once by adding more blades?

A. While 5 blades is the recommended maximum, we believe that with clever adjustments, working with higher counts holds achievable potential. Using more blades significantly increases friction, requiring considerable force even for an adult male. However, by using the techniques below, we think you could achieve greater stability and easier operation:

  • Overcome Friction with Leverage: Allow ample slack in your material (more length to pull out), and use a tool like needle-nose pliers to firmly grip and pull the material through. This helps counteract the friction and should result in a smoother cut.
  • Enhance Fixation with Metal Parts: Should you attempt working with higher blade counts, replacing the ABS resin bolts and nuts with metal ones is anticipated to increase the jig's overall clamping force.
  • Maximize Stability with Fixed Setup: For high blade counts, firmly fix the jig to a table or workspace. This allows you to use both hands to pull the material, which we anticipate will result in smoother and more stable cutting.
Q. Do You Offer Custom Orders?

A. Yes, we would love to help you create your "ideal tool"!

Initially, we believed that "tools you use should be made by yourself." However, upon realizing how many people struggle with developing and improving jigs, we strongly felt this approach was wrong. That's when our store decided to introduce a 3D printer, despite having no budget.

While we may not be able to meet every single request, we gladly accept consultations for custom manufacturing to create special tools just for you.

If you have specific requests like, "This part of the work is really stressful," or "I need a jig in this exact size," please let us know. We will assist in turning your ideas into a one-of-a-kind jig.

The best number of razor blades for a 15mm width

Safety First: Optimal Razor Blade Count & Setup for 15mm Width

You can set up to 14 razor blades in the 15mm width! However, to avoid failures caused by friction heat, it's crucial to know the best count for safety and perfect results.

The optimal count for comfortable cutting is 2-3 blades for women and 5 blades for men. Once you get the hang of cutting with the jig firmly fixed, you might even be able to comfortably add 2 to 3 more blades!

After identifying the 14 possible set-up points using the semi-transparent red marker, you simply decide where to place your chosen number of blades (2-5). Using this best count as a guide, both even and uneven cutting can be executed flawlessly as you intended.

Set the razor blade on the spacer

Let's Start! Preparing to Set Razor Blades into the Spacer

It’s time to set your razor blades into the spacer! The image clearly illustrates the set-up process, showing the spacer with the blank piece attached, the spacer with it removed, and the spacer with the blade fixed.

Key Information

  • Blank Piece: The azure-colored blank piece (0.16mm thick) is very thin. Please peel it off slowly and gently. If it cracks, the spacer can still be used exclusively for blade fixing, and one spare is included with your packaging.
  • Double-Sided Tape: The transparent tape for fixing the blade is reusable. If the adhesive wears off, you can easily replace the tape yourself.
  • Fixing: The spacer has a groove designed to hold the 0.16mm razor blade; simply align the blade with this groove to secure it.

⚠️【Important】Safety Warning

Even though the blade is secured by the groove, it is not completely safe. If you plan to work primarily freehand, we strongly recommend using a single-edged razor blade to prevent accidents.

Never make the wrong razor blade setting again

The Final Safety Check: Never Make a Mistake Setting Your Razor Blade Again

We use a red marker to show the correct groove position and explain with one OK example and two NG examples.

  • NG 1: The blade is not fixed in the groove correctly; the angle and exposure are insufficient. Cutting will fail.
  • OK: The blade is fixed perfectly and cleanly in the groove; the cutting angle and exposure are as designed. This is the correct setup!
  • NG 2: It looks fixed, but there's a large gap at the bottom, causing the blade to be exposed too much at the top. This is also a setup failure and a potential cause of accidents.

To prevent work accidents, please make sure to visually check for any problems or issues after setting up and after every few cuts. A perfect, clean fit is the key to safety and success.

How to use 100-yen clamps! The magic of firmly fixing jigs without damaging them

1. The 100-Yen Clamp: Honest Thoughts?

When securing a jig for cutting, we'll share important points you need to know and how to solve them.

Actually, when I looked for a clamp to secure my bracket, I could only find this 50mm C-Clamp at the two nearest 100-yen shops.

This clamp holds things securely and is handy, but because the price is so affordable, it lacks protective covers on the clamping ends 😢 That's the tricky part.

When I tried securing the bracket with it just as it was, I made a mistake: the clamping point on my precious jig got dented, and scratch marks were left on the table I was working on... what a fail!

【Slide Next】to see the solution: 💖 Scratch-Free Setup! Check out how to make an instant protective cover with a rubber sheet!

2. Scratch-Free Setup! How to Make an Instant Protective Cover with a Rubber Sheet

As shared in the previous post, using clamps without a protective cover can unfortunately scratch your valuable jigs and tables 😢

So, as a quick fix, I used a rubber sheet and double-sided tape to create an instant protective cover.

With this, you can secure your bracket and table tightly and safely without worrying about scratches!

If your clamp doesn't have protective pads, please try this method! Let's keep our precious crafting tools beautiful for a long time 💖

【Slide Next】to see: 💖 Securing an L-shaped bracket safely with a 100-yen C-Clamp!

3. 💖 Securing an L-shaped Bracket Safely with a 100-Yen C-Clamp

Now that we have prepared our 100-yen C-Clamp with the protective cover from the last step, let's finally attach the L-shaped bracket to the table!

This time, I set it up at a 90-degree angle to the edge of the table. This is key to preventing the jig from wiggling when you pull it during the cutting process ✨

When you check the fixture, you'll find that even if there's a little play side-to-side, it's held super securely in the pulling direction! Now we can proceed with our crafting confidently 😊

This was a demo test to see if "Can a 100-yen clamp actually work?", but if you feel any concern, it might be wise to choose a slightly pricier, but more reliable clamp from a DIY center!

Thank you so much for watching until the end. I hope this helps you comfortably and smartly upgrade your workspace for easy and safe crafting 💖
