【Prototype】Fortuna Pearl 21mm Width: Scandinavian Color Accessory Case
- This piece is a prototype of an accessory case vibrantly colored with a Scandinavian design theme, luxuriously crafted using "Fortuna Pearl (21mm width)," a material characterized by its silky smooth texture and elegant, pearl-like luster.
The firm texture created by the 21mm width material, along with the combination of 16 Scandinavian-style blended colors*and graceful luster, brings a bright and refined atmosphere to any room.

Product shape and dimensions
Making Story
This prototype was made in homage to Nordic birch craft. It was created without a specific use in mind, but is roughly the size that holds about half of a vertically placed iPad (3rd generation).
Because I wanted to see how the colors would come out, I deliberately used 16 different colors. The result is no longer particularly Nordic in feeling, but I found something appealing in it nonetheless, a new discovery on its own terms.
The biggest problem I noticed after finishing was a slight twist that becomes visible when viewed from directly above. It happened because I pulled the weave in one direction too strongly. Handmade pieces really do show the maker's habits, but I was unable to correct the twist.
I chose 21mm-wide Fortuna Pearl because the larger width opens up possibilities for bigger work I had not attempted before. At the same time, I learned that the wider the strap, the harder the final finishing becomes. Simply weaving the ends a little longer is not the solution.
Fixing the twist and mastering the finishing of wider straps are now my two main challenges. With this material and this technique, beautiful work is possible with the right approach.
Only one piece of this Nordic-style 16-color case was made.
