【Prototype】Fortuna Pearl 11mm Width: A Modern Bag with Dual-Tone Stripes
- This piece is a prototype crafted using Fortuna Pearl, a material characterized by its silky smooth texture and elegant, pearl-like luster, specially finished in a new 11mm width.
The main body uses two complementary shades—Fuji-iro (Wisteria Color) and Botan-iro (Peony Color)—and is finished with stripe (Shimamasu Check / Square Stripe) patterns, creating a modern and refined look.

- Specifications: Total length approx. 46 cm, thickness approx. 1 cm.
- Attachment: Firmly secured with φ 9 double-sided rivets, ensuring high durability.。

Making Story
Inspired by the work of a craft enthusiast in Taiwan, I took on the challenge of a two-color square stripe pattern. This piece is a record of stepping into a new technique.
The color combinations, the order of weaving, and above all the finishing of the top edge gave me real trouble. The hardest part was handling the diagonal section at the top, where both the outer and inner faces of the bag come into play. The gaps in the weave became noticeable, and to be honest, I nearly gave up two or three times. Even if I tried the same colors again, I imagine I would still struggle with the top finishing. This is a pattern I would like to revisit and complete to a higher standard once my skills have grown.
For the handle I used INAZUMA's synthetic leather YAK-590 (about 46cm long, about 1cm thick, in light pink). The ready-made light pink rivets, however, felt out of balance with the bag overall, so I removed every one of them and replaced them with antique-style hardware as an upgrade. Budget constraints led me to use ready-made handles, but I was struck by how dramatically the entire feel of the bag changes when you simply swap the color of the rivets.
This is a single-piece prototype, meaningful both as a technical challenge and as a discovery of what is possible by customizing off-the-shelf parts.
