Record of a Challenge: Two-Color "Square Stripe" Prototype

  • This time, inspired by the work of a Taiwanese handicraft enthusiast, I took on the challenge of creating a two-color square stripe pattern.

Manufacturing Difficulties and Discoveries

  • I struggled greatly with the color combination, the order of weaving, and above all, the method for neatly finishing the top edge. Specifically, handling the diagonal section at the top, which uses both the outer and inner surfaces of the bag, was difficult. Noticeable gaps appeared in the weaving, and I honestly felt like giving up two or three times. Although I managed to finish it, I strongly feel the need for further skill improvement.
  • Incidentally, when I attempted the pattern again with the same two colors for confirmation, the color arrangement strangely ended up being the reverse of the first attempt. I recognize this too as part of the profound complexity and difficulty of the weaving technique. I intend to challenge this pattern again once my skills have improved slightly.

Handle and Rivet Upgrade

  • For the handle (持ち手) of this prototype, I used INAZUMA synthetic leather YAK-590 (approx. 46cm in total length, approx. 1cm thick, color: purple).
  • However, I felt that the ready-made purple-colored rivets (metal fittings) disrupted the overall balance, so I removed all the ready-made rivets and upgraded them to antique-style fittings.
  • Although I used a ready-made handle due to budget constraints this time, I was impressed by how simply changing the color of the rivets could completely alter the atmosphere of a bag, even when using a standard handle.

Prototype Information

  • This prototype is a meaningful one-of-a-kind piece, representing a technical challenge and the discovery of possibilities within ready-made parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is the "Production History" (製作品歴)?

A1: It is a list compiling our past finished products and prototypes.

  • The "Production History" is a list compiled by Handicrafts Store☆ALAUDAE that allows anyone to view the past finished products and prototypes that have been manufactured, sold, and are now sold out.
  • Here, you can see the brand's journey, design transitions, and technical trial-and-error process. This list will be continually added to and updated as new products and prototypes are created in the future.
Q2: Will products listed in the Production History be sold again (re-produced)?

A2: We may consider re-selling them if there are many requests for production of sold-out items.。

  • If we receive many requests for a re-sale, we will consider re-producing the item.
  • However, the creator also operates a Web development business concurrently, and it can be difficult to secure time for handicraft work when the Web tasks are busy. Therefore, re-sale will be considered only when the creator has sufficient time for handicraft work.
  • Please feel free to send us your requests, such as "We would like this product to be sold again."
Q3: Why do products in the Production History show "Out of Stock"?

A3: This is a display method used to efficiently list our past works.

  • This is a functional display implemented by utilizing the mechanism of the E-Commerce (EC) site to reduce the time required to create new articles for blogs, etc.
  • Please understand that the products listed in the "Production History" currently have no inventory, but they are in a state where re-sale is possible if they are manufactured again.
